Washington State X-CWho Would Win? What would happen if the Bomber State Champion teams from each of the five title years competed in one big meet? We'll never know, of course (until they invent the time machine). But taking the results from the state meets from 1970 to 1974 (the Bomber dynasty years) and ranking the Bomber runners in order of their times at state (see list of state results, below), here's how a contest between the five championship teams would come out. 1) 1972 Bombers -- 57 points (Mark Higginson, Guy Tunnell, Scott Olander, Jim Rice, Randy Rice, Ron Melton, Kirk Higginson) 2) 1971 Bombers -- 61 points (Mark Higginson, Kurt Beckman, Randy Rolph, Randy Rice, David Beckman, Ron Melton, Guy Tunnell) 3) 1974 Bombers -- 63 points (Guy Tunnell, Jim Rice, Keith Jolley, John Zorich, Duane Ostler, Kirk Higginson, Rick Swallow) 4) 1970 Bombers -- 66 points (Jerry Rice, Kurt Beckman, John Mosley, William Rathvon, Richard Rathvon, Randy Rice, Randy Rolph) 5) 1973 Bombers -- 75 points (Guy Tunnell, Jim Rice, Scott Olander, Kirk Higginson, Dave Harty, Tim Hood, Keith Jolley) Note: Class of 1975 runners in green.
